I was running a JL Audio stealthbox for my Tacoma Double cab for 2 years. The sound was "ok" because i was running it with a Rockford Fosgate amplifier which I think had too much power and hence the sound coming from the subwoofer was distorted. I ended up tuning the bass by purchasing the JL Audio XD600/1 amp which puts out 400 Watts rms to my stealthbox and the insides of my truck were REALLy shaking :D However, I stepped outside and the back wall of my cabin was rattling really nasty. Bought this product, installed it in 3 hours, and the rattle which was in my truck was reduced by a factor of 10 :D n

I know, I should have bought this stuff a long time ago. Buy this if you really want to save some money and want to get a clear punch in your cabin without self-destructing your car. I think it also protects the woofer from all the vibration-hits it has with the back wall of my truck; thus extending the life of my subwoofer. I highly recommend the Fat Mat.

The roller is crappy. You don't really need it, but it does help. You have to be careful when using it, I broke mine 75% done through my install and had to use my fingers to press the mat into the backwall. As a result of this, I cut my ring finger in my right hand; the metal in the mat sliced it up like butter. Nothing serious, but would have liked knowing prior to the installation that I needed to PUSH and not ROLL the mat with my fingers to avoid the side-friction.

50 Sq feet was just enough to isolate the trunk, trunk lid and rear deck of an Acura TL. This stuff is quite heavy and I definitely felt my trunk lid get much heavier. The tools included got the job done without problems. The whole install process took me a full day just for the trunk. It is a tedious and time consuming process especially in hard to reach areas where you have to cut small pieces, and rolling out the bubbles also takes a while. Make sure to do this on a warm day so the material is flexible and easy to work with and make sure you thoroughly clean the surfaces with either alcohol or some kind of degreaser.

It's very sticky, once it touches the metal it's hard to take off, and if you do take it off it wont stick as good anymore. So be prepared for a lot of frustrating moments. The adhesive used is not my personal favorite, it's a rubber and asphalt based adhesive, which smells,(sorta like fresh asphalt) but smell gets better after a while. I'm not sure how long it's going to stick though, I've seen people who used this and some pieces peeled off after a while, a little spray adhesive should fix that.

I did hear a slight improvement in bass clarity and there's significantly less rattling. My friend with the exact same car and sound system setup did Dynomat on his trunk, there was a bit of difference, but not much at all and he paid double of what this cost. One thing I have to give Dynomat is that it doesn't stink up your trunk.

I'll see how long this stuff hangs on for, and if the adhesive will get saggy and leak, then I'm probably getting more for the doors and floor. For the money, it's a good product. Unless you're building a 1000+ watt system, this stuff will work, if anything you can double layer it.

The worst part about this kit is trying not to get the stuff stuck before it is in place. I have used a few other damping materials and for the money I will continue to purchase FatMat. It has stayed where I put it in all temps comes with everything you need and is the right price. It has done its job and cut my interior noise by 4.5db on my meter. I have yet to get my roof and doors yet, so I know I can get at least another 1.5 out of them.. I hope for more but I am not expecting miracles.
